The Philips HeartStart Defibrillator is supplied with self training material including:

• User Guide
• 15 minute user training DVD

The Philips HeartStart Defibrillator is very easy to use and can be used by minimally trained or even untrained people in an emergency situation. For the best chance of a successful resuscitation we strongly advise that appropriate training be obtained. Available as an optional extra is a TRAINING VOUCHER which can be used with our preferred training supplier (Direct First Aid Ltd, http://www.directfirstaid.biz ) as full payment for a short introductory personal training session given in your home, office or other location of your choice (UK and Ireland Only) which is described as follows:

Basic Philips HeartStart Defibrillator Training: (1hour 30 minutes)

Train up to four people. Training will be delivered at your home, office or other location of your choice.

• Training covers:
• Introduction to electrical cycles of the heart
• Understanding VF and importance of early defibrillation in case of cardiac arrest
• Safety considerations for the rescuer, bystanders and patient
• Assessing patient suitability for defibrillation
• Correct use of the HeartStart defibrillator in emergency situations
• CPR and AED theory and practical
• Assembling and maintenance of the HeartStart Defibrillator
• Recap and assessment
• Benefits of additional training in BLS and regular refresher courses.

We also supply self training material such as DVD video program, poster and manuals. This short introductory training is intended ONLY to cover the operation and use of the Philips HeartStart Defibrillator and is NOT intended to be comprehensive basic life support (BLS) or Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training If you wish you can use the supplied training voucher as part payment towards a Direct First Aid Ltd. 1/2 day or 1 day comprehensive training course.

EXTRACT FROM OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE RELATING TO TRAINING

It is the customers’ responsibility to ensure that the customer and any other potential users of the Philips HeartStart Home Defibrillator are adequately and appropriately trained (as per the guidelines laid down from time to time by the UK Resuscitation Council ), and that this training is kept up-to-date with appropriate regular retraining.

We advise everyone who has access to, or who may be a user of, a Philips HeartStart Home Defibrillator to attend a comprehensive training course (from a reputable training organisation) that adheres to the training guidelines laid down by the UK Resuscitation Council for potential uses of Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) .

The customer agrees that:
A) You and other potential users of the defibrillator are already adequately trained in the use of the Philips HeartStart Home Defibrillator AND/OR that you will obtain appropriate training for yourself and other potential users AND THAT:

B) Home Heart Care Ltd shall not be liable for any special, direct, indirect, or consequential damages of any nature whatsoever resulting from: a) any training provided to the customer by any third party or: b) any training provided by the customer themselves AND THAT:

C) Any training provided by our training partner Direct First Aid Ltd is the responsibility of Direct First Aid Ltd. provided under the terms and conditions of business of Direct First Aid Ltd. Home Heart Care Ltd shall not be liable for any special, direct, indirect, or consequential damages of any nature whatsoever resulting from any training provided to the customer by Direct First Aid Ltd or its employees, directors or agents.

It is the customers’ responsibility to ensure that the customer and any other potential users of the Philips HeartStart Home Defibrillator have read and understood the users guides and manuals supplied with the Home Defibrillator and have also watched the training video supplied. It is the customers responsibility to ensure that the equipment is used and operated only as specified in the users manuals and guides supplied with the equipment It is the customers and users responsibility to be aware of all possible consequences of actual or attempted resuscitation.
